The Ultimaker 2 3D Printer
Having a 3D printer can open up a whole new world of faster customization that is quite close to home. With the Ultimaker 2, you can have fun personalizing the objects in your life. Intended for both the skilled user as well as the beginner, the Ultimaker 2 is simple to interface with and nicely constructed to produce beautiful 3D prints. The printer comes with a lot of accessories, including a robust software for easy installation.
3D Printing Operation
The Ultimaker 2 3D printer dissolves plastic and puts it on the glass plate in a cumulative procedure. Quality and speed are a few of the significant factors to consider when comparing affordable 3D printers. The speed of the Ultimaker 2 ranges from 30 to 300 millimeters per second, helping you to select speedy prints or slow, high quality prints. Optimized Resolution is about 0.02 mm per print layer – about the width of cardstock paper – for smooth, perfect prints. You can even adjust the printer settings through the printing process so that, in the event that you notice an error, it is possible to correct it without restarting or destroying your print. The Ultimaker is made both for office and home use and certainly will print up to 9 x 9 x 8-inch creations, quite above the size of your average 3D printers.
Filament and Cartridges
3D printing materials vary from metal to nylon, however plastic continues to be the most used printing material for consumer-level 3D printers. And for The Ultimaker 2 it only supports the two most popular printing filaments: PLA and ABS full out. Only filament bought from the manufacturing company is guaranteed to keep your 3D printer running smoothly. Additional filament from Ultimaker comes in a range of colors and at competitive prices.
Accessories and Connectivity
With the aid of included SD card or USB cable, you can easily connect to your Ultimaker 2. No need worrying about the compatibility of your computer with the printer, as the Ultimaker’s applications functions with Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS and Linux systems.
The Ultimaker 3D printer comes with all the needed accessories, which means you do not have to scramble to locate cables or components . In the carton, you will find SD card, USB cable, a power supply, care tools as well as a PLA filament cartridge.
For newcomers to the 3D printing world, the Ultimaker 2 is easy to use. It creates big, high quality prints and is not difficult to connect to your home computer. For sophisticated printers and designers, the Cura and printer software are both open source and simply modifiable, with settings to appease your most creative dreams.

To clean the build plate simply open the clamps and lift it off. -
Build plate leveling
Assisted leveling process It’s really easy to level the build plate using the printer’s assisted leveling process. The print head automatically moves itself to the back of the build plate, after which the user then turns the matching knob and uses the Ultimakers calibration card to set the right height. The Ultimakers print head will continue to the left front side, and then the front right side. This process is repeated once, after that you’ll have a perfectly leveled bed which will stay leveled for a really long time thanks to the sturdy build of the build plate. -
Print head
Swappable nozzleThanks to the swappable nozzle, you can quickly switch between different nozzles. The standard is 0.4 mm, but you also have the option to use a 0.25 mm nozzle for detailed prints or a 0.6 mm/0.8 mm for faster prints. The fans are more silent than ever. The heater cartridge is now 35W which improves heat up times and print speeds. The PTFE isolator is made from TFM, which has a longer life span. They have removed the spring and implemented a spacer, this puts less pressure on the PTFE isolator which also expands its life span. They are using a new sensitive PT-100 temperature sensor, it provides accurate readings so you can tweak the settings with precision. -

0.25 nozzle: up to 8 mm3/s
0.40 nozzle: up to 16 mm3/s

Thanks for the comprehensive review. The Ultimatemaker 2 has become one of my favorites so far. I plan to purchase a 3D printer in May and I’m doing little digging. Definitely a worthy candidate!
