Possibly the best thing to ever happen to 3D Printing since the invention of the RepRap… Polyetherimide is a unique plastic that acts as “the” perfect material to act as your print surface. This material attaches to your existing print bed via bulldog / binder clips. We have successfully tested ABS and PLA (including our exotic materials) and have found that prints stick to this plastic wonderfully! No more hairspray, no more tape, no more slurry, no more glue! Simply print directly on this material and remove your print when it is completed and the bed has cooled. Too good to be true? It sounds like it… but trust us, you’ll be amazed! Officially founded in October 2015, Filament Innovations is an open-source 3D Printing company located in the heart of historic Bethlehem, PA. Update – We have been doing a lot of testing with our Polytherimide and we recommend Double Sided Polyimide tape for print plate adhesion when bed heating is over 40C. 7.29.16 – As of this date, we have officially negotiated better PEI costs and are passing these savings on to our customers! We have sold thousands of these PEI sheets to date in only a few months and thanks to you, the community, we can now make these even more accessible. We thank the open-source community and the 3D Printing community for making this possible.
Ultem Polytherimide – 8″x8″ (203mmx203mm) – All Cuts are Within 1/8″ – .8mm Material Thickness, Nominal is .040″ or 1mm. Please note – you may need to do final trimming of the PEI with a knife or scissors for your printer bed due to very minimal size variations.
Please remove the clear protective wrapping! Parts not sticking? Check that the protective wrap is removed and sand the PEI with 800-1,000 grit sand paper for optimal print adhesion.
ABS – Attach with double sided polyimide tape (not included). PLA – Bulldog clips for 40C
ABS – Heat to 100C-110C, PLA – 40C-60C
Easily Trimmed to Size for Screw-holes (We Suggest Cutting 45 Degree Angles at the Corners) IMPORTANT – Remove the plastic film from BOTH sides. 95% of our Polythermide has film on BOTH sides, 100% has it on one side
