Markforged 3D printing platform achieves ISO 27001 security certification
Carbon fiber and metal 3D printer manufacturer Markforged has successfully achieved ISO 27001 Certification for its hardware and Eiger cloud and fleet management software system. The company is the first to be awarded such certification to operate a system.
The announcement puts Markforged at the forefront of the technological capabilities of operating a platform such as this is a standardized and secure environment.
ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is an Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard ensures that organizations have an established framework of business and IT processes to help identify, manage, and reduce risks.
The certification applies to Markforged’s hardware and Eiger cloud and fleet management software, which were proven to meet rigorous international standards in privacy, confidentiality, and integrity.
“We believe that every product and engineering decision we make has a security component to it, and our customers and their data are at the center,” said David Benhaim, CTO, CISO, Markforged.
“We are setting the standard for additive manufacturing, and our strategic investment in maintaining a robust security program and completion of this internationally recognized certification process demonstrates our steadfast commitment to security and the protection of our customers’ data.”
Markforged’s says this certification highlights its commitment to adhering to best practices through repeatable processes such as data transmission, storage, logging, access controls, operations, cryptography, management of third parties, incident management, and tracking of threats.
Being the first to achieve this level of security is a big win for Markforges as customers’ confidence in Markforged’s systems to handle highly sensitive data securely becomes more and more assured.
This achievement will reel in customers adopting additive manufacturing or 3D printing across their applications like the military and defense sector or top-secret research and development.
Founded in 2013 and based in Watertown, Markforged transforms manufacturing with 3D metal and continuous carbon fiber printers capable of producing parts tough enough for the factory floor. Engineers, designers, and manufacturing professionals all over the world rely on Markforged metal and composite printers for tooling, fixtures, functional prototyping, and high-value end-use production.
